Updates from April and May, 2010

I am finally going back and doing some updates from our spring.  There are so many pictures to choose from, so I've selected a few representative ones to document our time.

Moving Day - April 22!
We are finally into our new house and making it our home.  We are settling in slowly (no pictures on the walls yet, folks) since it has been such a busy spring and summer.
The pups are loving there new yard to run free in and lots more space.  They are frequently found "resting" from all their hard labor!
We have flown three times this spring - Addy is a trooper of a traveler.  Our first trip was to Las Vegas for the American Society of Breast Surgeons annual meeting.  Here is Adelyn's view from our room at the Bellagio.  High class!  She must have thought we took her to Paris!
On May 3, Adelyn turned 1!  Hard to believe that my baby girl is already a year old!  We had family and a few close friends over to celebrate the big day (mommy and daddy celebrated having unpacked enough boxes to make room for guests!)

Aunt Erika made some wonderful birthday cupcakes.  It took Addy a long time to finally make a mess, and even then, there wasn't much of a mess to clean up!  That's my neat girl!
She had fun riding Winnie too.  That birthday hat didn't last long... as nothing in her hair does these days!
Finally, for May at least, we took an amazing trip to Wyoming and Montana to visit Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks.  We took 1034 pictures.  We edited those down to 175 and made a cute Shutterfly book.  And now I will somehow edit again to post a few representative photos for this blog.  Wow, what an amazing trip it was!  Since this blog is mostly about our family, I'll try to stick to "people pictures"...
Upon entering Yellowstone the first day, we encountered this huge herd of wild buffalo being herded back into the park for their protection.

I can't understate how great a little traveler Addy is... We drove over 100 miles a day on average.  She tolerated cold and snow and hours of hiking on Daddy's back and meals in the car and diaper changes in the back of our rented SUV.  What a cutie!
The Grand Teton range was so impressive and striking.
Sometimes in the car, we all got a little crazy and silly.  And she had cold feet for the whole trip - wouldn't keep any socks or shoes on if she could help it!
All bundled up to go hiking in Glacier National Park!  With the mittens, she couldn't pull those socks and shoes off!
We saw tons of wildlife - had to include this one, because "bear hunting" (from the car of course) became a favorite pastime in Yellowstone.  We saw several of these big black bears.
The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.  Not quite "our" Arizona Grand Canyon, but beautiful and with the added unique bonuses of geothermal features and two gorgeous waterfalls.
We had great fun hiking through snowy trails to get to this highly predictable geyser called "Lone Star" (fitting, having come all the way from the Lone Star State).  It was awesome and we only had to share it with a few other hikers.
I leave you with that for tonight.  June and July updates will be next!
